AI Engine Optimization (AEO) Grader & AI Rank Tracking
The AEO (AI Engine Optimization) tools let you see how your business ranks inside AI answers (such as ChatGPT and Gemini) for your target keywords and cities. They complement your existing Google SEO rank tracking so you can compare search and AI visibility side by side.
Prerequisites
- For the free AEO Grader page:
- No login required.
- You need your business name or website URL.
- You need at least one primary keyword and city (for example: “bounce house rentals” + “Cleveland”).
- For ongoing AI rank tracking in your account:
- An active InflatableOffice/EventOffice account.
- A WordPress website connected under Settings > WordPress.
- Keywords and cities set up under Settings > WordPress (used for normal SEO rank tracking and city landing pages).
- SEO tracking already running on your Dashboard (under the SEO area).
Using the Free AEO Grader
The free AEO Grader is a one-time scan that asks AI engines to list the top companies for a keyword and city, then shows where (or if) your business appears in those results.
- Open the AEO Grader page.
Use the AEO Grader link from:
- The Vendor Tools area in your account, or
- A marketing email or message from our team.
- Enter your business and search details.
- Business name or website URL.
- Primary keyword (for example: “water slide rentals”).
- City or city + state (for example: “Orlando, FL”).
- Choose AI engines to check.
- Select ChatGPT, Gemini, or both (if available).
- Run the AEO report.
Click the button to generate results. The tool will query the selected AI engines for the top companies for that keyword and city.
- Review your results.
- See the top 10 companies each AI engine names.
- See whether your domain appears and in what position.
- Compare visibility across engines (for example, ChatGPT rank vs Gemini rank).
- Read the brief explanation of how often this can be automated for ongoing tracking.
- Try other keyword + city combinations (optional).
You can rerun the grader with different keywords or cities, within the allowed usage limits.
Rate limits: To keep this free tool available to everyone, we limit usage by IP address (for example, up to a few runs per minute and a limited number per week). If you hit a limit, wait and try again later or use in-account tracking.
Setting Up Ongoing AI Rank Tracking in Your Account
Once your keywords and cities are configured, the system can automatically check AI engines on a regular basis and log those results alongside your Google SEO ranks.
- Confirm your keywords and cities.
In your account:
- Go to Settings > WordPress and click your website.
- Review or update your Keywords and Cities, then save.
- Verify normal SEO rank tracking.
- Confirm that you already see SEO rank data under your Dashboard’s SEO area.
- If not, follow the steps in https://rental.software/support/knowledge-base/article/website-seo-rank-tracking" target="_blank">Website - SEO Rank Tracking.
- Allow time for AI data to collect.
AI engine checks will run in the background for your configured keywords and cities. After some time, AI ranks will start to appear in your SEO widgets.
- View AI ranks on your SEO charts.
On the Dashboard under SEO:
- Open your existing SEO rank chart(s).
- Use the legend or engine selector to toggle lines for:
- Google Rank (domain)
- ChatGPT Rank (domain) (when available)
- Gemini Rank (domain) (when available)
- Compare how your rank changes over time for each engine.
- Interpret Share of Voice.
Share of Voice metrics continue to use Google search ranks only. AI ranks are shown on charts but are not included in Share of Voice calculations.

Troubleshooting & FAQs
Q: The grader doesn’t show my business in the results.
A: Your site may not be in the top 10 companies the AI engine lists for that keyword and city. Try:
- Using a more specific or accurate keyword (for example, include “rentals”).
- Checking the nearest large city instead of a small town.
- Confirming your business name and domain match what appears on your website and Google Business Profile.
Q: Why do my AI ranks look different from my Google ranks?
A: Google ranks are based on search engine results pages (SERPs). AI ranks are based on how AI tools describe “top” companies, which can weigh reviews, reputation, or other content differently. It is normal for them not to match exactly.
Q: I don’t see ChatGPT or Gemini lines on my SEO chart.
A: AI rank lines appear only after enough AEO data has been collected for your keywords and cities. If you have just set this up, give it time to run. If you still do not see them, start by confirming your keywords and cities under Settings > WordPress.
Q: Are AI ranks included in Share of Voice?
A: No. Share of Voice continues to be calculated using your Google search ranks only. AI engine ranks are visible on charts but are not part of the Share of Voice metric.
Q: The free grader says I hit a usage limit.
A: The tool caps how many times each IP address can run it in a short period and per week. Wait and try again later, or rely on the automated in-account tracking for ongoing monitoring.
Q: Does this replace normal SEO rank tracking?
A: No. AEO complements SEO. You still need traditional SEO tracking for Google visibility, while AEO shows how often AI tools recommend your business.
