Per our EULA and not to supersede our EULA, we will pass on any charge for text messaging that we are billed by phone carriers. Carriers such as T-Mobile have begun very strict policies on what they will accept (such as no spam, phishing, and SHAFT violations - Sex, Hate, Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco), and penalties for non-compliance of up to $10,000 per occurrence.
It is important that you not participate in activities that will result in large fines as they will be passed on to you and failure to pay in a timely manner will result in closing of your account. Best practices to avoid such violations are as follows:
- Find carrier policies for the major cell phone companies such as Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. so you know if you are violating.
- Ensure that you are not sending unwanted text messages to customers in your database by having a strict opt-in policy.
- Protect access to text messaging so that only qualified and authorized people in your company have the ability to send manual and activate automatic text messages.
