Rental Inventory: Editing Multiple Inventory Items at Once

Use the Edit Multiple option on the Inventory page to update shared fields across many inventory items at once. This is useful for bulk changes like categories, descriptions, pricing fields, and media.

Prerequisites

• Access to Settings → Inventory.
• Permission to edit inventory items.
• A clear plan for which items you want to update. Bulk edits apply the selected changes to every checked item.

Edit Multiple Inventory Items

1. Go to Settings → Inventory.
2. Use search or filters to find the items you want to update.
3. Check the box next to each item you want to edit.
   • To select all items on the current page, use the checkbox in the table header.
4. Click the dropdown arrow next to the Delete button.
5. Select Edit Multiple.
6. In the bulk edit window, choose the field or fields you want to update.
   • Only supported fields appear in the bulk editor.
   • Some advanced or item-specific settings must still be edited one item at a time.
7. Enter the new values you want applied to all selected items.
8. Review the changes carefully.
9. Click Save.

After saving, the selected fields update on every checked item. Fields you did not change remain as they were.

Feature Options & Parameters

Available bulk-edit fields may vary by account. Common options include:

• Categories: Add or change categories for multiple items at once.
• Descriptions: Replace or standardize descriptions across selected items.
• Pricing / Price Name: Apply shared pricing fields or price names to multiple items.
• Images & Videos: Add or replace media across a group of items.
• Other General Fields: Some item settings may also be available in bulk edit.

Important: If you update a field in the bulk editor, that value is applied to all selected items for that field.

Use Cases

• Re-categorizing inventory: Move a group of items into a new category or add a secondary category like Featured.
• Updating shared pricing: Apply the same price name or pricing setup to a full product line.
• Refreshing content: Replace older descriptions with updated wording across similar items.
• Standardizing media: Add the same promo video or image set to multiple related items.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

• I do not see the Edit Multiple option.
  • Make sure at least two inventory items is selected.
  • Confirm you have permission to edit inventory items.
• The field I want to change is not available.
  • Not all inventory settings support bulk editing.
  • Edit item-specific advanced settings directly on each item if needed.
• The wrong items were updated.
  • Use filters and review your selected checkboxes before saving.
  • Selections apply only to the items you checked.
• A category I want to use does not appear.
  • Create the category first in Categories, then return to bulk edit.
• My images or videos were replaced.
  • Bulk media changes can overwrite existing media on selected items.
  • Reopen the affected items and restore the correct media if needed.
• Will unchanged fields be overwritten?
  • No. Only the fields you change in the bulk edit window are updated.
