Website Integration - Undo or Restore Website Edits

Have you ever made a change to a webpage in Elementor and instantly regretted it? Don’t worry — Elementor’s built-in history and revision features make it easy to undo mistakes and roll back to previous versions of your design. In this article, we’ll walk through the process step by step so you can confidently make edits, knowing you can always go back if needed.

Getting Started with Elementor History

First, ensure you're logged into your WordPress admin and viewing the page you want to edit. You should see a black bar at the top of the page. Click on “Edit with Elementor.” This will open the Elementor editor for the page you’re working on.

Note: These steps apply whether you're editing a page, the header, or the footer, it's the process is the same for all.

Accessing the Elementor History Panel

  1. In the Elementor editor, click the Elementor logo (top-left corner).
  2. A dropdown menu appears — select "History."

You'll now see two tabs:

  • Actions – Tracks every change you’ve made during your current session.
  • Revisions – Lists previously saved versions of the page.

Using the Actions Tab

The Actions tab is ideal for undoing changes you made in your current editing session.

  • Say you've added several unwanted elements, just click into the History tab.
  • You’ll see a list of each action you took (e.g., added widget, deleted section).
  • Click any previous action to revert your page to that specific point in time.
  • Want to go all the way back? Click “Editing Started” to reset your session.

Undo/Redo Shortcuts

For quick changes, you can also use keyboard shortcuts:

  • Undo:
    • Windows: Ctrl + Z
    • Mac: Command + Z
  • Redo:
    • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + Z
    • Mac: Command + Shift + Z

These are handy when making rapid edits and realizing something’s off.

Reverting to a Saved Revision

The Revisions tab allows you to view and restore previously saved versions of your page:

  1. Click on Revisions within the History panel.
  2. You’ll see a list of autosaves and manual saves with timestamps.
  3. Hover over a revision and click to preview what the page looked like at that time.
  4. Once you've found the version you want to restore, click “Apply.”

This feature is especially useful if you need to recover changes from earlier sessions.
