event planning form

The Knowledge Base article for the event planning form is very basic, but advises "It's a best-practice to have the initial quote form a customer fills out be as short as possible, then to follow-up later to gather all the necessary details for an event."

Is it saying that the instructions provided are NOT a best practice? Or is it saying that the instructions provided will allow the quote to be short?

I believe it's saying that your initial quote request should not be riddled with "i agree to...." paragraphs for people to check before booking an event. Instead, you can build this update form and ask them those same things after you get the job.

Studies show the more info a person has to fill out the less likely they are to complete it, resulting in abandoned cards. So in that article, they are suggesting putting only the NECESSARY FOR BOOKING questions on the quote form and follow up with an update form to gather more information.

Example. Customer wants a tent. On the initial quote form, they fill out their event address, what tent tables and chairs they want. Once they book the event THEN send the update form to ask them the questions you'd need answered to get the proper permits such as sitemaps, event purpose, etc.

Chad's explanation is right on. The article advises keeping the initial quote form short with only essential booking details to reduce abandonment, and then using a follow-up form to gather additional event specifics later.
