Help Configuring Inventory Relationships for Ball Pit Add-ons and Combos

Hi IO team,

I need help setting up inventory relationships correctly for our ball pit and toddler bounce house combos.

Scenario 1: We’ve had customers request to add our 4x4 ball pit to other bounce houses. Right now, we’re adding it manually to orders, but I’d like to make it selectable in the system, possibly as an accessory or add-on item, so it can be easily added during booking.

Scenario 2: We offer two combo units:

  • Toddler Magical Slide w/ Ball Pit
  • Toddler Bounce House w/ Ball Pit

These are separate inventory items, but they share the same ball pit. I want to configure it so that when one combo is booked, the other ball pit combo is blocked (since the ball pit is in use), but the standalone bounce house or slide remains available.

Currently, when one combo is booked, it also blocks the other standalone bounce house or slide, which shouldn’t happen.

Could you please tell me how to set this up so the relationships reflect actual availability?

Thanks, Juan

To make your ball pit a selectable add-on, you'll set it up as a standalone inventory item and add it as an accessory to the relevant bounce houses.

For your two combos that share the same ball pit, if you would like to brand these as both standalone units AND packages with the ball pit, then again, you will set up separate standalone items for each, and a third item that contains both the standalone unit and the ball pit as required accessories. This ensures that the availability of each item is considered in the availability of the full rental, and that each item can still be rented on its own.

I was able to remove those relationships. I had to change the build qty to 0 first, and then I was able to delete them all.

I was able to complete one but when working on the second one I get an error message. I must be doing something wrong, could you please review?

The method that I have suggested does not involve using Relationships at all, but instead using required accessories to track item availability. Here is our knowledge base overview of accessories. Your largest item will contain the required accessories (ie. ball pit, slide, etc) to build the full item.
