I am trying to post a payment for an account by selecting gift card. I am now getting a message saying that "it has to be a valid number" I have never had to enter any kind of a number before. Why has this changed? And how do I post payment as a gift card without having to have a number?

If you use the Gift Card payment option its going to want a valid IO gift card number. You could always create a different payment type by going to Settings-->Payment Types that isn't connected to the IO Gift Card option that won't require this valid # input

 I have never had to have a gift card number to make a gift card payment.

Currently, if you are using the presaved Gift Card option in IO you would need a valid Gift card #. You would need to create your own payment type (not the presaved Gift Card option) to not use a valid #.

Ok. Walk me through how to do it. Attached is what I am seeing in IO under payment type. I see no place to put a number

Create a new one that doesn't just say Gift Card so there's a difference between the two?
