duplicate organization customers (new release)

In the recent release it says we can add customers to multiple organizations without needing duplicate customers. This is GREAT, since I have several duplicate customers purely because they represent multiple organizations and it was a pain.

However, it wasn't immediately clear how to get from the duplicated ones to merge them all, since the Merge Utility doesn't allow me to select organizations, much less two of them.

I'm thinking the best way to do it is to go open up each organization itself and add the "other" duplicate customer.

For example, if Joe is a rep for both Business and Church, and I used to have customer profiles Joe B for when he's booking for the business and Joe C for bookings for the Church, I can...

1. Open the Business organization and add Joe C to it.

2. Open the Church organization and add Joe B to it.

3. Go to the merge utility and merge Joe B and Joe C, deleting the organization field (or type in both?)


Is this the best way to do it?

Yes, I believe you can do it either way...merge customer profile (leave org blank) and then assign to orgs

What about having customers that rent both commercially (for their organization) and personally? Do they have to stay as duplicate profiles?
