How to add accessories/add-ons to an item when customers are looking at my inventory?

I have these panels I can add to the combo units. For instance, one is axe throwing. So I can add the panel to the back of a combo unit and I want to add that as an option to upsell. I have other panels to I want to show the customer but I am not sure how to display this on my site under the specific combo.
Another example I have is for the user/customer to pick the type of tarp they want. For instance, I have a pink tarp I want to use for my pink princess combo but I want to add it as an option on the main page for the princess combo. If they select it then it will be an extra $15 if not then we will use our standard blue tarp which is free.
When adding these items does this affect my inventory count?
