Multiple Currencies

Hi IO team, we have multiple locations running currently, all in USD. Is it possible to add a new location in Canada that quotes, invoices, and processes payments in CAD? Our processor is Global Payments.

Thanks in advance!

Yes...if you add a location and use the correct country code under the Account Preferences it will use that currency for that location.

We are currently using multiple locations (2 for US, 1 in Canada and 1 in Europe) but all the prices are showing up in USD and are processed as USD. Is there a setting we are missing? Please let me know how to change the location that would affect the currency the customer are being charged. thanks!

We have just checked - we have several warehouses (settings >> warehouses) - i'm not sure how to add/view locations.

Can you let me know?

Thank you Susan, that is excellent. We are using the IO-QBO integration and we have multicurrency support turned on in QBO. If we create an IO Canadian location using CAD, will the QBO integration create customers and transactions in CAD in QBO?

Yes, if you are using QB Online it will work

Hi Susan, after hours on the phone with Global Payments, I learned that we're going to need a second virtual terminal to run transactions in CAD. Any transactions run through our current VT will be in USD. I've written to Lee in sales for help in setting that up, but I wanted to mention it here so that anyone facing this same issue is aware.

Hi! I wanted to revisit this topic. Let me know if there was any progress made on this front. I believe John has tested receiving payments in CAD and customer was still charged 10 USD instead of 10 CAD. Can you confirm that we can create an IO sub account or a new CAD IO account that would display all prices in CAD and process the payments in CAD. I have already confirmed with Global Payments that we are set up to process payments in different currencies. Thank you.

Can you give us a couple examples of payments that were done through CAD in global but showing as USD in QB? Thanks!

Susan,

I took over this project. From what I was able to see in the past emails John was testing an IO virtual terminal to run both USD and CAD transactions, Both the initial charge and the refund were transacted as USD10 not CAD10, and the customer saw a CAD14.18 charge on her CAD-denominated CC.

My question is if we still need two logins/accounts/terminals to be able to offer two currencies. And if so, how will the CAD denominated transactions be integrated into QBO. Would they be posted in CAD? Do you have experience with customers using two currencies?

Thank you.

Yes, to be able to run transactions in CAD you would still need the separate terminal for this location. Yes, QuickBooks can show if a transaction was done in USD or CAD when synced, but only if you have the Multicurrency feature enabled in your account. This feature must be turned on before you sync transactions in foreign currencies.
