Trying to assign a shift on the Routing Tab

I am trying to add a worker shift using the little calendar by the vehicle. I click on the pull down menu and select driver, and then choose Kit Johnson. I click on Save Shift and then SAVE at the top. When I look back at the driver assigned on the shift, it is blank as if I never did it.
