Is there a way to enter a sub rental from another company or do we have to list everything as inventory?

You can just use the Quick-add option at the bottom of the rental list when editing a lead. Simply type in the name of the item and the amount to charge them.
If you regularly rent inventory from another company you can setup the item in your inventory, but otherwise you don't need to.
