Sales tax rates

Is there a way to view and/or adjust my sales tax rates? (Not that I want to do that manually). I stopped using Taxcloud because they were ripping me off. They eventually stopped responding to me after they confirmed multiple times that they shouldn't have been charging me fees. Never got my money back, of course, and it took 6 months to get them out of my life.

Anyway, I'm trying to file my sales taxes manually in Washington, but the rates in IO don't seem to be matching up with what Washington says I should have been collecting from my customers.

You can go to Distance Charges and under the "State" tab it will allow you set a rate and override what the system calculates. You can also click on the rate while editing the lead and enter the rate as well.

Washington has state, county, and city sales taxes. The setting in IO only allow me to set the state tax, so that won't work. I just asked on the Rental Pros Facebook page to see if I can find out what other people in Washington are doing.

What I did learn from the State of Washington is that when Taxcloud, or any other "streamlined sales tax" company like them, files a return, they don't provide any sales information, just a dollar amount, so it doesn't matter if they have the tax rate wrong - nobody will ever check. However, when I file, I have to provide sales data, so the rates do need to match up.

Joel asked me for more details, so I'm going to email support with zip codes and lead IDs

Washington doesn't really care if I get it right, as long as it looks like I'm trying. So, do you guys have access to the location code that is used to determine the tax rate? If I could put that on my sales tax report, life would be easy.

We don't have the tax rate tables as we use a service for that as it's become too complicated for us to maintain.

Not the tax rate tables... What I'm looking for is the location code. When Taxcloud, or whatever service you use, looks up the address, they should get a location code such as 0600, 0830, 0650. When I file my taxes, if I have that code, then I can just enter it in Washington's system, rather than going through the process of finding a location code that matches the rate IO charged my customer. It would be a huge time saver if you could somehow get that location code from Taxcloud, attach it to the lead, and allow me to put it on a report.
