Sale Tax Not Correct per County

John D. shared this question 8 years ago

For some reason the sales tax is not calculating correctly for each county. For instance, a rental for a customer originating in Delaware County Ohio is calculating a 7.500% sales tax but should be adding only 7.000% sales tax. Any suggestions?

The service we use to calculate tax rates is usually correct. There are areas of Delaware county that have a 7.5% rate. Please use the following address to check your rate: http://taxcloud.net/#Find-a-Rate. If you feel it is incorrect, you can contact them. Thanks.

Check out lead 1473370. It is an event in Delaware county that populates a tax rate of 7.5% but the taxcloud website you sent me to indicates that the tax rate should be 7.000% for that address.

I see. We'll contact them and see why they're returning one rate for us and a different rate on their website.

According to TaxCloud Ohio switched to origin based taxes for most services. It appears to me that the only time services are taxed based on destination is if the client has rented the equipment and then additional fees are charged while in the client's posession.
