Since you already have this as a regular item but want it to also be an option of certain things you have to do it as follows:
1. Go to each item that you want it to be an option of. Edit and go to the Options & PL tab.
2. At the top of the options box click the link 'load rentals as options'
3. After a few seconds you can scroll down in the options list and find the item
Also, make sure to unlink the duplicate option you originally created and make it inactive.
