I see in Statistics it offers an average but i'd like to create a custom report based on the Average rental totals by client type.

You can use the keyword "ctype" to filter your leads to only show a specific Customer Type and then you can run your average rental total report to see the average total for your customer types. Let me know if you need anything else!

typing in ctype under Keyword shows me "no leads to display". How do i run an average rental total report? This is what i'm trying to figure out.

They keyword might be requiring ":" at the end of ctype, you might need to type out "ctype:" and then you'll see the options of customer types you have. For this report you could Group By Contact Customer Type. This will add the total of each customer type together in that row.

Okay, got that. I've got total, but as I said, I'm looking for the Average. And how would I create a chart that shows that # compared to last quarter or last year? thanks

These would have to be created as separate reports with the date range set for each quarter or last year. I'll talk to the team about a feature request to the custom report section that would allow you to use multiple date ranges to compare.

Thanks, and how do I get the average instead of total?

To get a true average you'd have to "Sort By" the Contact Customer Type column and then you'd have to find the average from totals for each customer type. We currently don't have an "Average" setting for the columns here. I'll talk to the team about adding this as well.
