Is it normal not to show changes to customer contact information in the log?

Looking back at email archives, it looks like she called in to change her phone number a couple days ago, but the log shows nothing to that effect. Curious if the lack of logging is normal, since it's updating her custmomer information which isnt necessarily specific to the event? If so, it might make sense to show those in the log so one can backtrack changes made/requested by a customer. The way it is now, we sound somewhat unprofessional not knowing what was changed and when (ie a customer calls to say they never received our mail and at some point an address was changed/corrected, a phone number was changed etC)

This is normal. Although the edit was made from inside the lead, customer information is actually stored in the customer profile. If you open her customer profile, you can see it in her customer profile log.

I can understand the usefulness of seeing this information from the lead, but it wouldn't necessarily be accurate to show customer profile changes in the lead log, and may affect the loading speed of the lead. I'll add it to our feature request list to think through more. Perhaps we'll just log something like "customer profile updated" in the lead if it happens from there rather than detailing all the changes.

Yea, that would work. I could then train our staff to goto the customer's log if they see that. I honestly never knew there was a customer log at all...we never really use the customer tab I guess lol

You can do so much from the lead itself that the customer tab is rarely nessesary. Looking at profile changes is one of the few reasons to use it.
