I am trying to add linens as a rental item but there are over 50 colors is there anyway to create an item where it allows you to type in the color instead of creating 50 items?
Also we need to run a report on the linens to be ordered for the week from our linen company?
Any thoughts?

There is no way to type in the color. I suggest making the colors accessories to the linen item. I see how displaying 50 accessories may be strange looking. When you have the items entered, post the areas that are difficult to work with. I'll review and enter as an issue to resolve.
Regarding the report, you should be able to filter the leads by the week then by the rental item and get your report. I'm not sure what item it is that you need to order or I would tell you specifically how to do it.
