Deleting Payments

I know how to add and remove payments but my question is...

Can there be a setting added in the workers area to allow or not allow the staff to delete payments.

It would be very helpful to only allow specific staff to be able to delete payments.

I think it would make it much more secure from the accountability side.

Would you be able to not allow those employees full access to leads? This will prevent them from editing the lead. Or is it that you want them to be able to add payments but not delete?

Yes we want them to be able to post payments etc.

But allowing them to remove payments would be what i was asking about.

Just a thought

I'll enter it as a task to add permissions for that.

Has this been done? I don't see this option. I'd also like a way to prevent users from deleting attachments. Payments and attachments are too easy to delete with just a single click.

We haven't edited these permissions yet. This request hasn't made it into our roadmap for the near future but I'll make sure it get's re-queued for consideration.

maybe we could get a management override code then the permission table wouldnt need changed

have a variable that the primary user could set up and change as needed a 4 digit pin code or something like that

when you want to delete an attachment, payment etc it pops up asking for the code before it will allow the user to delete. Just a thought

I like the idea of having an override pin code that works throughout IO. That way, if I'm at another workstation that doesn't have the permission I need, I can simply use the override code to gain temporary access or make a quick edit. Barring any drastic changes like that, anything to make it more difficult to delete attachments and payments would be helpful. A confirmation step was added to status changes (downgrades only, I believe) for this same reason. Can the same thing be done easily for this purpose?

Not to my knowledge I think it's still as it has been

I hope it comes soon

But the downgrade is only a pop-up it still allows you to downgrade just gives you a message to confirm that is what u want done there is no override

Yeah, I'm just saying that would be a decent temporary improvement. It would help prevent people from accidentally deleting stuff. If you're worried about people intentionally deleting payments, that's a different story.

If you are having issues with people intentionally deleting things they shouldn't, you need to disable their access completely.

Disabling it would keep them from being able to do anything at all on orders correct?

Thats correct, Greg. We don't have a permission for this so the only permission you have is to disable their access to editing leads completely at the moment. Casey's request is to make accidental deletion more difficult, which is different as well.

oh i agree his is different i was just thinking of a permanent fix where staff could still work daily but would have no way to remove payments or attachments etc.

Similar to when you are like at walmart and they clerk scans to many times or something like that and they have to have a manager override.

I'm aware of what you mean by manager pin to override. It's just not something that can be built quickly, but it's a good solution for us to consider.

I won't say that I'm not worried about that happening but let's say that it has happened before and those people are no longer here that's how we solve that but of course that's after the fact and then you have to backtrack and look for it

Wow. Was it sabotage? Or were they stealing from you?

Stealing they stold rrtail store money and posted payments and kept the cash on rentals even went as far as canceling out parties that paid in cash so it look like we never even did the event

That sucks! I'm so happy we don't deal with cash here. Credit card or check only.

After watching the OE interface video you posted after the session yesterday you talked about having to help a client track back what an employee was doing to delete orders and steal cash payments. That is the perfect example why having a pin override would be a valuable tool to give IO to eliminate future issues with that client or any of your IO Customers.
