AdWords conversion tracking

In the Google Tracking screen, step 1 says "Link your Google Analytics account to your Adwords account." But I don't want to link Analytics to AdWords.

My assumption is that if I add the AdWords conversion tracking codes in the applicable fields, it will still work, even if Analytics isn't linked.

Am I correct?

You can use Anaylytics without AdWords, but you obvioulsy won't be able to track the success of your AdWords campaigns.

Sorry. Let me be more clear.

I want to track and report conversions in AdWords (not Analytics). I assume that if I add the AdWords conversion tracking snippets to the two areas in IO, that the AdWords conversion will still trigger on the applicable pages, even if I don't have AdWords and Analytics linked.

Is this correct?

Sorry we had not gotten back to you sooner. Google changed some things

with the way we have to do the tracking. We've fixed the code and

instructions in dev and will release it at our next release.
