Delivery Fee on Certain Items
Answered
We currently rent out inflatables as well as tables and chairs. We're starting to see an increase in table and chair rentals without an inflatable and we'd like to charge a delivery fee when the rental is only for tables and chairs.
I have distance charges set up for anything delivered over 45 miles away, but that is a global setting for all rentals.
I'd like a separate delivery fee to be charged to any rental when only tables and chairs are rented.
What is the best way to go about setting that up? I'm thinking a Fee type, but I'm not sure how to set it up properly.
What is the fee that your wanting to charge?

Oh great question, if possible, we'd like to charge different fees depending on the location.....which I'm realizing now probably throws a wrench in the plan.
The pricing was going to be $35 for local drop offs (less than 20 miles) and $55 for anything between 20-50 miles and $65 for 50-75 miles. We don't deliver anything past 75 miles for any rental unless it's a special circumstance.
Our distance charges are currently setup as $0 for anything under 45 miles, $35 for miles 46-50 and $65 for 51-75 miles and $1000 for 75+ miles (since we don't deliver past that distance).
Maybe I'm better off setting up a discount on the delivery fee if a qualifying item (bouncer) is added to the order?

It would probably work better if we just did a delivery fee for anything under a certain $ amount.

That's part of my issue. We don't want to charge delivery fees for the local area. It's currently our biggest selling point, but again, only for inflatables. The table and chair rentals alone are too small to support the delivery without an additional charge.
I think I'll navigate the route of removing the distance charge if a qualifying item is added. Is that something IO can do with the distance charges given our distance charges vary?

We could do something like if the total is under something like $50 it would charge a delivery fee.

Got it! Sorry, after I responded I realized I misread your comment.
Now, if we did that, what happens if they are also in the 45+ mile range where the distance charge would kick in. Can I set it so that they don't get double charged for the delivery fee?

No they would still get charged the distance charge fee as well.
