Tips report provides incorrect tip values

I just created a tips report for my dashboard and it's telling me the wrong values for the tips. For example, I'll see a $100 tip in the report, click on the lead, and the tips were actually $50.
However, the number isn't always wrong...sometimes it is accurate.
What could cause the inconsistency?
Example: Lead 35139987 says $300 tip in the report.
