Editing Page Icons Mobile, Tablet and Desktop

Hello,
Why do some of my pages have the Desktop, Tablet and Mobile icons to allow view of the edits in each mode and other pages do not.
My home page does not have these shown. I have a slide show section which needs adjustment because the First item does not display the entire photo while in mobile and tablet view when I access it on my iphone or ipad. I would like to view and edit in mobile mode so I can make edits to the photo or if needed to the slide item column width.
