contract variable not working

I just noticed that the contract variable is not showing the specific contract details for those items with special contract wording. We had a dispute with a customer and went back to check their contract and all it is showing is the following:
Details for *rentalname*:
*rentalcontract*
how can I get this to work properly ASAP
