Shouldn't going to the workers site in settings and sending a text or email to one or more workers appear in history (maybe CRM) somewhere? I don't see a way to save those communications.

The text log will show your text messages sent to the workers but the CRM module will not display this information unless there is a customer profile/lead tied to the text or email.
