When I do it that way as described in the article/video I loose the whole drop down list and it just says inventory.

Good morning, here is a question from the developer:
it’s because they have the “show categories only” box selected. Also, they are using an Elementor menu right now. I’d have to change it to a mega menu. Are they ok with that?
