I guess this should have been a question asked before. When a customer makes a deposit on a rental, will there be a reminder email to pay the balance? If so, can I control the timing of that? Thx

There are some automatic payment reminders in the Settings--Email Center that you can make active. Feel free to edit the template to fit your company, and you can control the days sent in the top right corner of the email template. (see attached for reference)
