copy of inventory list download or API Link to Claude
Answered
Has anyone connected an API to Claude before? I'm trying to determine the easiest approach. Would it be better to upload an inventory list instead of using an API? If I upload the inventory, how would I view or access it within Claude?

InflatableOffice supports external API integrations, but there is no documented native Claude connector. A Claude integration would typically require custom middleware or an automation platform to retrieve InflatableOffice data and send it to Claude.
API vs. inventory upload
Use an API when:
- Claude needs current inventory, pricing, or availability.
- Data changes frequently.
- The process will run repeatedly or automatically.
High-level setup:
1. Confirm the WordPress/API module is active.
2. Create an API key from an administrator account.
3. Grant only the required Inventory and Category permissions.
4. Test inventory retrieval.
5. Connect the results to Claude through a custom application or supported automation service.
Never include an unrestricted API key directly in Claude prompts or uploaded files. InflatableOffice API keys are also subject to rate limits.
Upload an inventory list when:
- A one-time review, categorization, summary, or analysis is needed.
- Real-time availability is not required.
- A simpler proof of concept is preferred.
An uploaded file is a snapshot and will not automatically stay synchronized with InflatableOffice. In Claude, it is generally accessed from the chat where it was attached or from Project Knowledge if uploaded to a Claude Project. Claude can search or summarize it through prompts, but it will not appear as a separate live inventory database. The exact file interface depends on the Claude account and plan.

For initial testing, a file upload is the lowest-complexity approach. For ongoing access to current inventory, an API-based integration is the appropriate long-term approach.

with claude cowork, I was able to give the api settings to claude and have it connect for me and pull information.
