Change Website Theme Colors

How do I change my website theme colors?? I, otherwise would understand how to do it but when trying to edit my colors on my header I have to do it one section at a time and the sides are not stretching out the full length of the page leaving some of the old colors exposed?! I don't know how to fix this?

You had a background on a section which was showing over the background color you selected. The current background is the blue fully from left to right.
