Good morning! Is there a way to change the word “Deposit” on the booking site so it says “Reservation Fee” instead?

In Nevada, deposits must be refundable if there is no damage. That means if a customer cancels when I arrive, I am required to return the full deposit. A reservation fee, however, is different. It is a non‑refundable fee for holding the date and equipment, and it can legally be kept because it compensates me for reserving the equipment and turning away other bookings.

Yes, instead of setting this up as a deposit you will want it to set up as a fee that can be refunding after the event. What is the amount you want this set up for? A flat rate or a % of rental total?

I Would like it to be a flat fee of $25 dollars, but I want it to come off the total like the deposit would. that way I don't have to refund at all.

Susan, I don't think he's wanting a Fee. I think he just wants to reword everywhere it says "deposit"

Yes that is correct.

We can do that but the "deposit" when set up this way is part of the balance of the rental items. So for example, if the total is $500 and you have a deposit set up for $150 ...the total is still $500. The $150 isn't added on top of the $500. To do this you would need to set it up as a fee.

I still want the Reservation Fee to be applied to the rental the same way a deposit would be. For example, if the rental total is $500, the Reservation Fee would be $150, and the customer would owe the remaining $350 on the day of the event. If the customer decides to cancel on the day of the event, I do not want to return the $150 because I held the equipment for them and was unable to book it for anyone else.

Ok, so you want to be able to keep or refund the deposit regardless if it's part of the balance, correct? If that's the case, yes, keep it as a deposit and we can rename.

We can update this "label" on your templates...but on the lead for you/workers it will still say "deposit"

That should work as long as what the customers see says Reservation Fee.
