Optional field in customer section

When I add an optional checkbox to the customer section, it doesn't work when filtering leads. If I put it anywhere else it works. Is this a bug, or is there a way to get a checkbox in the customer section and filter by that checkbox?

Yes...they don't act the same if you add them to the lead and the customer pages.
