Do automations need to get re-approved if they/their filter get modified?

I read that if the filter or automation get modified, the automation would need to get approved again. I've modified the automation several times but it still says "Approved".
Can someone elaborate on the backend process? Will my automation stop working if there are updates? Do I need to manually ask for a re-approval?
