Purchase order required from Customer

Trying to figure out a way to have some kind of pop up or a way to "make" you put in a purchase order for customers whose organizations require them for payment. I have made optional fields for a box to click if it is required and also a box to put the number in as IO does not have this anywhere on the lead page. Anyone have any ideas how I can make this work. Thought about making a customer type called po required and then do some kind of automation but all the fields I have made they are not IO fields. Any thoughts appreciated.

Would this be for your use in office or for the customer on the quote page? Wouldn't really be a way to make it required unless it's required for everyone. You can make this an optional Field named "PO Number" and have it show just on leads page or on leads and quote page
