Accessory pricing for item with interchangeable parts?

I have a mechanical ride base that we use with either a bull or shark. We'd like to keep our backend process of having the base be our "item" and either the bull or shark as a required accessory. However, when we put this on our website, it shows the pricing as $1. The pricing in the cart seems to be correct.
