Trying to send email and getting this screen that says to check the smpt setting-- email failed

email will not send -- error that there is a SMPT problem-- reset the settings still the same

I increased the timeout and it now shows the proper error when you use Test Login under Settings->General Settings. The error says your username or password is incorrect.
