Best way to edit a pages source code

I need to add a tracking pixel to the 'head' of a couple pages and I'm wondering what steps need to be taken to edit a pages source code? Is it as simple as 'deactivating' the page prior to clicking the <> button (which is currently grey'd out)?

If you put your cursor into the content area of the page, the <> tool won't be grey'd out.
