Add to Cart is grayed out?

I can't figure out why the add to cart button on just this one product on just this one site is grayed out.

https://cosmicgellyball.com/rentals/cosmic-blast/gellyball-party-for-10/

The same item on my other site seems to be working just fine:

I can even add the "Additional Players" accessory to the cart, but it doesn't add the main item.

You have to choose a date in order for the button to show.

Can I get rid of that requirement? That doesn't seem to be a requirement for anything else. Strange that it's not a requirement for the same item on the other website...

I am asking a developer. I will let you know when I hear back.

Developer said that this is the intended behavior and it will not be changed.

The intended behavior for what--what setting do I have that's making it only show up when the date/time is selected (compared to every other item and even the same item on other websites)?

I have given your response to the developer, I will reach out when I hear back.

Per Developer:

If a date is not set that button will always be greyed out. Its for all items. The item he said he is having an issue with and what i took a screenshot of. When a date is set you are able to add to the cart.

Why does it not have the same function on the item screen as it does when viewing the whole category?

I'm realizing there's an unexpected difference in function between the item's page and the category page for multiple items.

I have let the Developer know and have given them your response!

Hi Talon, thanks for pointing that out. I'm the developer and you are correct that there is a difference in how the plugin handles the category page versus the individual item page. On the category page, if no event date is selected, the button is intended to prompt the customer to set a date first. On the individual item page, the add-to-cart button is disabled/greyed out until a date is selected and availability can be checked. Once a date is selected, both views should allow the item to be added to the cart as long as the item is available for that date. So the behavior is date-dependent in both places, but the presentation is different between the item page and the category page. What exactly are you looking for me to do?

Hello Robert, thanks for the response. I'd like the functionality to be identical site-wide. I do prefer the function of the category page over that of the individual page, but it's the difference that's particularly confusing.

Note that from the category page I can add items to my cart just fine even if I don't select the event date/time.

Customers (and myself) were confused on the individual item page with the grayed-out button, while the category page "pop-up add date requirement" seems to work much better at indicating to the user what must be done.

Hey Talon,

Hope you had a great weekend!

Thanks for the additional details. I completely understand what you mean about the difference between the category page and the individual item page being confusing.

I did some more digging and found there was a bug on the site causing the individual item page button to behave differently. I’ve fixed that now, so the functionality should be consistent site-wide.

When you get a chance, please check that item again and let me know if you’re still seeing the issue.

Thanks,

Robert

It seems to be working uniformly across the website (and across my multiple websites). Everything's green and allowing to add to cart so the user can select the date/time.

Thanks, Robert!
