I have this on my contract,

~~empty(*rentalfootprint*)~ ~Space required: *rental_footprint*~~

which I thought would only show "Space required:" on the contract when there was a value in the *rental_footprint* variable. However, it seems to always appear no matter what.

Is there an issue with my syntax? Or my understanding? I don't see anything about this in the help docs, I just kind of figured it out by looking at other parts of the default contract.

I see an issue. Look at the underscore. You have *rentalfootprint* and *rental_footprint* only one of those can be correct

Casey is correct. You will want to have the first variable listed as *rental_footprint* for this to work properly.
