People using iPad are having issues signing contract electronically

At first I thought one of our customers had a screw loose, but over the last month 3 or 4 more have mentioned issues signing and all are using iPads.
The last customer was kind enough to explain in a little more detail. When trying to click the "Sign" button, he got this:
"Message from web page. Error signing the account. Please try again later "
You can't vote. Please authorize!
I tested on the ipad using safari and it worked fine for me.
I looked at the code and the error they are likely getting is:
Error signing contract! Please try again.
I think the scenario where this could happen is if a contract is created and they are sent an email with a link to sign it. Then the contract is deleted.
It can also happen if customer information is changed to either a different customer or a new profile is created.
I made a change to make this less likely to happen.
