i don't want a unit to go out all day, so i set a daily threshold of 6hrs but that doesn't seem to be doing what i want it to do. it will still allow the unit to go out longer, but not charge more. How do i make this happen?

There is not a way to prevent an item from going out longer than a certain amount of time. The daily threshold is used only to set a max daily price on an item.
You could price the item higher the longer it goes out by setting an hourly rate. With price list you can set a 6 hour price, then have it charge per hour over that flat rate.
