Accessories for modular products

So I have a modular item: a cornhole set that can have many different designs on its cover. My cornhole set is the item and each of the covers are accessories.
When I list the accessories as their own rentals, they even get their own product page. Unfortunately, though, I’m not seeing a way to add the ability to choose bean bag colors.

After trying this and testing it, it appears that something is wrong with the logic. After doing these steps, it can no longer be added to the cart and make it to check out.
