change surface setup in a lead to indoors but sandbag fee did not populate

I have a lead that was part indoors and part outdoors. The item that was already indoors did not require sandbags and the ones outdoors were being staked. Now it is going to rain. I changed the surface type of the outdoor ones to indoors but the Surface Fee line is not populating with the sandbag charge like it normally would. Other than just doing an override and manually entering the fee, is there a way to make the system update the Surface Fee appropriately?

What is the lead id so we can look at this further?

I had changed the two items needing sandbags by clicking their name and changing them to indoors there but that did not override the original setting of outdoors and kept the surface fee $0. I have used that method on another lead one time and the surface fee updated automatically. But once I went further down the page and and changed the global surface type to indoors, the sandbag fee got added up above without me doing a manual override.

So I guess the question is, can we not change the surface type of individual items and have it calculate a correct surface fee? I had tried the "refresh" arrows at the total but that didn't cause the surface fee to show sandbags. I even saved the lead, closed it, and reopened it but the surface fee remained at zero even though the individual items kept the indoor setting I had changed them to.

The surface fee calculates based on what is set for the lead as a whole, so when you have certain items on one surface vs another item with a different surface it won't calculate how you are wanting.

The work around would be to create an accessory for each surface type and add them to the units so customer has to choose it at item level and it charges accordingly. HERE is an example from another website that has the surfaces setup this way for reference.

That is a good idea, but does it have to be added manually to each item or is there a way to do a group add to each category that it could apply to?

As a side note, it has worked before when the majority of contract items went indoors but only one went outside. I clicked the name of the outside item while in the lead and changed it's surface to outdoors and it automatically added the surface fee to the item in the lead in the back end. So if some update took that away, it would be nice to get it back as most rentals do not have different types of surfaces per rental so it would be way easier and faster than creating accessories and adding them to all items for a "what if" situation.

You can use the edit multiple and go by category. HERE is an article that goes over this further.

We would need an example of where this behavior occurred and look into it further that has never been supported to my knowledge.

I wished I remember which one that worked like that but it has been a while back and I've worked on so many since then. I don't see how you guys keep all your people straight that you have to help!

I can add that to the suggestion list (when I find it LOL - I know I saw such a list somewhere.)
