enter event date on quote form

When and where is a customer supposed to enter the date and time for their quote. I am not seeing this option in the three steps for getting a quote (shopping cart,contract details, event details, )
The customer has to leave the quote process and select the shopping cart icon/tab to enter a date. Shouldn't this be a step inside of the quote process?
Additionally there is no place to select my time slots anymore?
