Packing list Template Variables not working

The following template variables are not working properly on my packing list:

*rentalname* (*rentalqty*)

*rental_packing_list*

Has to be in a rental loop. Found in box just above rental variables towards the bottom of the template variables page.

I have no idea how to use a rental loop...I tried and it still isn't working

One more thing - as you can see, the packing list loads forced into tall narrow spaces as if there are invisible super skinny columns. This is highly annoying and I cannot figure out how to remedy it. I want the packing list to be full page width; I can't see why it is so invisible columned throughout.
