just added items under event notes in the optional field section but they do not always come up in the event box in all contracts/events

In order for the notes to show up, the template variable has to be in the contract template (or any template being used). So similar to how *ctfirstname* in the contract template inserts the customer's first name, *eventnotes* has to be somewhere in the template to insert the event notes. Not all of your templates have this template variable in them.

want them to show up in the notes box on the event page ie, ID: 1841814 in this lead it appeared under the event notes

Oh I thought you meant you wanted the "event notes" on the contract template. The default notes should appear on all new leads, but won't appear on leads already saved.
