If a client pays a deposit rather than the full balance before the scheduled date, when and how do we get to the final payment?

In your Email Center there are Payment Reminders as well as Event Reminder emails that you can send out. These will give the customer an update of their balance and allow them to click on contract again to make a payment. You would want to look at these emails and make the ones you would like to use "active"
