Accessories as upsells? And quote form pricing?

Is it possible to show the accessories as an upsell on the product page and flyout cart? I tested by adding an accessory to one of my products and switching the upsell setting from "normal" to "selected only".

The original upsells that showed in the flyout and under the "You might also be interested in:” section of the product page disappeared, but the accessory did not show.

I know I can add them as accessories, but I was hoping to work around the issue of the accessory price not always displaying. I could include the price in the title or description, but then it ends up showing twice once a date is selected.

Also, I'm not sure why the pricing the accessories don't show on the quote form, after they have chosen date. Asking customers to add something without knowing the cost probably isn't great for conversion rate.

Thanks.

Accessories are not able to be added as upsell items. Live pricing is only able to be displayed for accessories, as the price can vary depending on the time and can't be calculated without that time. These prices should appear on the website when a date is set.

Thanks for the response, Nick.

  • Accessories do show as upsells on the quote confirmation page, just not on the product page. However, you can only add one of each. I tested this with tables and chairs linked to a rental, and there was no option to adjust quantity. I double-checked the “hide quantity control” setting thinking that may be the problem, but it wasn’t enabled.
  • As far as pricing on the product page, I can see (from a technical perspective) why it wouldn't show due to the time/date not being chosen, but why wouldn't the pricing for the accessory be shown on the quote form?
By the time they reach the quote form, the date and time have been selected so the price for the accessory is determined.
We are asking them to add something to the quote form when they don't know the price.
When they finally see it on the quote confirmation page, if they don't like it, there is no clear way I saw to edit it. That's not a good user experience. It would lead to confusion and more than likely someone leaving the site versus finishing the booking.
I tried hitting the back button and editing, which you can do, but it also creates a new lead in the backend, which creates other issues.

The upsell feature does add just one item to the customers quote confirm, and then they have the ability to edit that quote which returns them to the quote form. Normally, the upsold item would be checked and they could edit the quantity when they return, but this does not work quite the same with having the items (tables/chairs in this case) set up as an accessory and not visible on the quote form. I think the issue here is the designed functionality of accessories not intended to be displayed on the quote form.

Yeah, I completely missed the edit button and I was looking for it. I imagine most people with an interest in editing would miss it as well. I'll add some CSS to that and make it stand out.

Barring an improvement on the upsell system where you allow them to edit the quantity on the upsell,, it seems upselling an accessory is not a great idea, at least for anything where someone wants more than one. Having to go back and edit is not a good user experience.

Which still takes me back to the fact the linked accessory pricing doesn't show on the quote form and them having to add without knowing the price. That seems like a bit of an oversight.

Barring IO fixing that, the only thing I can see to do is add the price to the title, so it shows on the quote form as part of the linked accessory.

I agree that the upsell method isn't a reasonable workaround for the problem you are having. I know it seems reasonable that the quote form should be able to display a "live" price as the website does for accessory prices - since the date has been selected or carried over from the cart/site - but the quote form behaves differently in collecting all of the customer's event info before outputting the quote confirm, so it can't output a live price for those accessories. In every case that I've seen where a user wants to have the accessory price show on the quote form, it requires including it in the item name.
